No aides, no assistants, no double booking, no exceptions.
No Doctor's Prescription Necessary
Contrary to popular belief, you don’t need a doctor’s prescription to see a physical or occupational therapist. Save time and refer yourself to West Coat Spine, Riversides’ top physical therapy clinics.
We accept cash, check, debit card, and credit card. We are happy to discuss payment plan options as well. It is our policy that payment is made at the time of service. Your insurance benefits will be determined before your second visit, and you will be informed of what, if any, payment is necessary on that date.
Dress comfortably with clothes that allow easy access for the therapist to examine your problem areas. For example, wear a loose-fitting shirt instead of a tight button-down shirt if you are coming in for your neck and/or shoulder. If you have a knee or hip injury, wear loose fitting pants or shorts. You are welcome to bring a change of clothes with you. We have extra gym shorts and t-shirts in our office if your clothing is not appropriate for treatment.
Typically, the first session lasts 1 hour. Each session after that may be 30-45 minutes. The amount of time will be based on your specific needs, and your therapist will discuss this with you.
Each patient’s diagnosis is different, so together with your referring physician, your therapist will develop a plan of care that is right for you. Your plan of care and number of visits will be determined during your first visit and explained to you by your physical therapist.
Physical therapists have years of university level training in anatomy, physiology, kinesiology (study of joint movement), neurology, and many of the other medical sciences. Our physical therapists have graduated from accredited physical therapy programs and are state licensed. Depending on the university, the physical therapy program is either a masters or doctorate level degree. Rest assured, your therapist is well trained to evaluate and treat your condition.
Overall, no. All of our therapists have experience treating a wide array of orthopedic and neurological dysfunctions, as well as post-surgical cases. Common issues that we see frequently in our office and which all of our therapists are equipped to treat include: low back pain, neck pain, shoulder pain, knee pain, tennis elbow, hip & IT band pain, sciatica, ankle & foot pain, deconditioning, gait & balance, post-stroke, and sports injuries. All therapists can treat post-surgical patients. The only specialty services which require a specific physical therapist are pelvic therapy, trigger point dry needling, vestibular (vertigo) therapy, and the LSVT-BIG program for Parkinson’s Disease.
Yes, we are happy to accommodate patients requesting a specific physical therapist. Please keep in mind that a specific therapist’s availability may be limited depending on how busy she is.
Yes, our goal is to have you see the same therapist for the entirety of each course of treatment. This allows for consistency in treatment for both the patient and therapist. If your schedule or treatment plan requires that you to see an additional therapist, we make sure to coordinate care between therapists.
Yes, around our buildings we have plenty of parking available for our physical therapy patients to park in. If those spots are full, there is free street parking available as well. There are also “handicapped” parking spots available in front of the buildings.
No, transportation to and from our office is the responsibility of the patient.
Yes, but we do not have any translators or non-English speaking therapists on staff. Non-English speaking patients are required to bring their own translator to each appointment. The translator may be a friend or family member. We cannot treat patients we cannot effectively communicate with as it is unsafe for the patient.
We require 24-hour notice for cancelled appointments. If you no-show or cancel an appointment with less than 24-hour notice, you are responsible for a $50 late cancellation fee per half hour scheduled. The fee cannot be billed to insurance. If you are trying to contact us after hours or on the weekends to cancel or reschedule, you may leave a voicemail and you will not be assessed the late fee if you call with at least 24-hour notice. If a patient no-shows or late cancels three times, we reserve the right to discontinue treatment. Patients who are more than 15 minutes late to their appointment will be charged a cancellation fee and be required to reschedule their appointment.
Yes, once you have completed your therapy sessions, your therapist will review your continuing home program. We can make arrangements to meet you at your gym to work with you on determining what equipment may be beneficial, and what exercises would be helpful in your continued recovery.
Physical therapy is a medical, hands-on approach to relieving pain and restoring function. Physical therapists are medical experts in musculoskeletal and neurological conditions and work closely with physicians. Our physical therapists evaluate your movement patterns, identify the cause of your pain, and work to eliminate it.
While every patient’s condition and pain is unique, your physical therapist will use a variety of gentle hands-on techniques, exercises, and equipment to relieve pain quickly and restore your function to optimum levels. The overall goal is to restore pain-free mobility and function and to prevent the injury or pain from recurring.
Working with you and your doctor, we can discuss your options and help determine if physical therapy will be the right choice for you. Contact us today to setup an initial examination to discuss your current condition.

Physical therapy is not meant to hurt, but to relieve pain. However, as you restore your mobility, pain levels, at times can fluctuate. You might experience some temporary soreness from using muscles that are weakened or recovering. This is a normal response to therapy treatment. Good communication with your therapist will help minimize any discomfort. We want you on your way to quick pain relief and back to normal activities.
Yes, in most cases it does. Our office will be happy to assist in contacting your insurance company and determining your coverage based on your individual policy. For more information, visit our insurance plan page and please do not hesitate to contact our office. We do offer different payment options for your convenience.
Most insurances do not require a referral. We are happy to obtain a quote of your benefits, but also encourage you to call your insurance to determine if a physical therapy referral is required. If a referral is required for your insurance, you may bring in a referral (aka script/order) for physical therapy to your first appointment or have your doctor fax it directly to our office at 951-653-4480. We are happy to provide recommendations for doctors if needed!
For patients who do not have insurance, we offer a discounted fee, due at the time of service. Our rates are as follows:
- 1-hour initial examination: $120
- 30-minute follow-up appointments $75
No, imaging is not required. Physical therapists are trained to assess and diagnose various injuries, disorders and impairments. If you have an imaging report (x-ray or MRI), we always like to see the report but we don’t need the actual x-rays or images.
