Running Analysis

Running analysis is a comprehensive assessment of many factors that can impact an individual’s running performance. Therapists examine strength, range of motion, alignment, and running biomechanics to develop an understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of each runner. Our therapists observe running mechanics using smartphones to analyze joint angles to determine which factors contribute to pain or predispose athletes to injury.

Injury Screening

Injury screening involves a comprehensive evaluation of an individual’s movement abilities across all ages to identify risk factors that predispose them to injury. Using evidence-based systems like the Functional Movement screen, the Selective Functional Movement Assessment, and motion analysis via video recordings, the physical therapist is able to objectively measure an individual’s risk for injury. The therapist will then work with the patient to design a specific plan of care that will address these risk factors in order to minimize risk of injury.

Bike Fit Assessment

The physical therapists will perform a comprehensive assessment including both a bike position analysis and a physical examination to determine issues that may increase risk for injury or movement inefficiency. This custom assessment will benefit both the elite and recreational cyclist. Recommendations for appropriate fit and equipment will be provided, as well as a home exercise program based upon the findings of the individualized assessment.

Injury Prevention

Physical Therapists are movement specialists that can treat and prevent injuries. As a specialist in injury prevention, the Physical Therapist is trained to evaluate and examine how a patient moves, to detect deficits in strength and flexibility, and screen for movement impairments that can cause abnormal stresses on the body. The Physical Therapist can advise the patient on a maintenance program to prevent overuse injuries, provide return to sport guidelines, and teaches activity modifications and recommendations to avoid compensatory patterns.

Custom Orthotics

Physical Therapists are experts in movement and musculoskeletal function and some are uniquely trained to be seen for personalized orthotics. Orthotics are individually shaped and fit insoles used in conjunction with a full musculoskeletal evaluation of movement. The Physical Therapist will also consider your activity level, injuries, pain complaints, and personal goals to ensure a proper fit. Orthotics can help improve proper foot alignment and support which can aid in injury prevention and resolution of current injuries.

When the cups are applied with movement it can further help address movement impairments and improve the mobility of these structures.
